Reboot-Returning to My Natural Settings

October Reboot

I’ve been gone for 2 of the 3 weeks we’ve had in October.  Much of it was unplanned, unexpected.

Three people have commented to me on how “good” I look since I’ve gotten back.

I think it’s because of all the things I did while I was away that I don’t normally do.

I was able to return to my natural settings…I was able to “reboot,” so to speak.

I spent hours and hours walking in the woods.

I LOVE the woods.

I walked in the rain.

I walked in the misty fog.

I collected beautiful leaves and pressed them in books…I couldn’t help myself.

They were so beautiful.

I wanted to somehow capture and keep them.

I took pictures in the woods, the rain, and the misty fog.

I stayed away from the computer!

I took a small impulsive trip to see my baby girl at her boarding school.

It should have taken just over 3 hours but the rain, fog, and not being sure where I was going slowed me down.

It took just over 4 hours.

It was worth every minute!

We walked in the dripping, misty woods.  Crunching through the leaves.

She showed me all the plants and trees she learned the names of,

she showed me all the beautiful glorious mushrooms she found.

We talked of how knowing the names of things makes you care more about them.

They become a friend when you know their name.

She told me how she felt like she was riding the beginning wave of change.

I told her that I felt it too.

It took me 4 hours to get home that night.

Wolves ran in front of my car.  Deer ran along side!  It was terrifying.  I love animals and was so worried I’d hit one.

It was a one day adventure.

I LOVE adventures!

I spent 2 glorious days with my aunts and cousins.  People I grew up with but haven’t seen in years and years.

We laughed until our stomachs hurt!  Until 2:00 in the morning!

4 of us are needing to look for jobs.  Husbands have been out of work, money is tight.

4 others had lost their mother just a few months ago.  Another had lost her 6-year-old daughter only weeks ago.

The older aunts shared their experiences of the grieving process.

The younger ones shared how being with someone when they die can be beautiful.

I’ve missed my family.  They are my teachers and heroes.

October I’ve been working on decluttering my computer and work-spaces.  I’ll write more on that in my post on Friday.

What has been wonderful is that I ended up cleaning out the work-space in my head this month as well!

It happened by doing some things that I love to do but haven’t done in a while.

Being in the woods and weather.

Seeing new places.

Reconnecting with people I’ve been disconnected from.

Having a little unplanned adventure!

So while we still have 10 days left in October to declutter our work-spaces, is there something YOU can do to reboot yourself?

A change of pace?  A reconnect?  A new site to see?  Nature walk?

Change is Beautiful!

  1. Those pictures are lovely. I’m so glad you had a chance to travel and reboot. I spent 12 days in Alabama and the weather was lovely, there were real trees (although not quite as colorful as what you posted here) and I had wonderful visits with family. The legal stuff I had to handle (the reason for the visit) didn’t go so well, but I didn’t expect it to anyway. And there will be more to come, but at least it will give me more trips to visit grandbabies!
